Company Policy my Bum - Col Cacchio Tygervalley (12/02/2011)
As always the food was good and I have nothing to complain about in that department. The place was buzzing and I had a good time. Yes a bottle of good red
wine does help!
So here we go... One of our party asked the waiter to leave spinach off the pizza and replace it with another ingredient. The waiter said nothing and did as she was requested. Yes the pizza was good and yes it was made just the way we wanted it!
Alls well until the bill arrived! A careful examination of the bill (we had an auditor at the table) disclosed that we were charged for the extra ingredient but we received no credit for the ingredient left off. Now this is nothing new and it is happening more and more at some of the restaurants I visit. The logic for not giving the credit is that it is not company policy!
Well two things spring to mind...
If you are going to bill me, then tell me what you intend doing and at least let me make the choice. Tell me what your company policy is and then I can decide if I want to swop the ingredient out or not. Yes show me the small print! Please don't wait until I get the bill and then explain to me what you have done (that is if I pick up what you have done on the bill.)
The fact that you have a company policy does not automatically make it right. The fact is it is wrong - why shouldn't I get a credit for the ingredient I swopped out. Yes I have a right to question your company policy and yes if your logic sucks it sucks...
It's not about the money, it's about right and wrong…. If I told you it was my company policy not to pay the bill would you smile and just let me walk off without paying??
