The Roundhouse - Position! Position! (15/02/2011)

Firstly let me start of by saying that when it comes to restaurants normally I would say that this has absolutely nothing to do with whether the restaurant will be successful or not. I can give you many examples of restaurants that have failed despite being in the Best positions. Well in this case with THIS restaurant I ammost probably wrong and let me tell you why!!

I decided to spoil my other half and take her somewhere special for Valentines. We arrived at the venue and I was impressed – Great Views! Incredible Setting! Fantastic weather!

The breakfast menu was a bit limited and not vey imaginative. The PRICES sky HIGH. Given the occasion I decided to overlook the prices and focus on having a good time. Once again views were incredible and the company good but that’s were it stops.

The service was OK but nothing to write home about. The coffee arrived – great coffee but cold cold cold – R20 per cup… The food was poorly presented and the portions very small – R65 for scrambled egg on a slightly burnt croissant. Just behind out table they have bushes and bushes of rosemary growing. YOU would think that perhaps they could spare a twig to decorate the plate.

On a special day like this perhaps they could even splurge a bit and hand out the odd rose or even a small chocolate. Just a little something to make the ladies feel special..

My other halfs food was equally boring. Scrambled egg, rock hard bread (no steak knife), cooked tomato and a few strips of fat masquerading as bacon. Needless to say she left half her food – there is only so much fat you can eat..

Once again great views so I can only assume the people keep coming back because of the views – the position – I cant believe its for the food……….
